The Edgefield Connection

Four Spring Events You Can't Miss

3/27/2018

Spring is in the air, and the neighborhood is hopping with activity! We have four exciting events planned during April and May, so don’t miss out on your chance to get involved.

Newcomers Brunch / Saturday, April 14
Please join us for this annual neighborhood gathering, as we welcome all our new neighbors to Edgefield. This year’s brunch will be at Hibah and Rob’s at 702 Shelby from 11AM to 1PM. All new neighbors (owners and renters alike who’ve moved here since last April) are encouraged just to show up so we can say “welcome!” All long-time residents are invited to bring a breakfast dish to share.

Neighborhood Cleanup Day / Saturday, April 21
Sponsored by Metro Public Works Beautification, this event is a citywide initiative to show some love to our yards, alleyways, and shared public spaces. (Long-time residents might remember this as “Rally in the Alley”!) We’ll be canvasing the neighborhood from 8:30AM to 11:30AM, with one goal in mind: make our charming, historic neighborhood as clean and presentable as possible. We will meet outside Edgefield Baptist Church and disperse from there. Anne Manner, who's leading this for HEN, will share specific details on Facebook and the listserv the week of the event, so please watch for those communications.

Music City Marathon Water Station / Saturday, April 28
Love the marathon but hate running? Then we have the deal for you. The Music City Marathon comes right through Edgefield, and we volunteer to pass out water at the hydration station on the 900 block of Russell. We need volunteers from 8:30AM to 1PM, and you can sign up for either of the following shifts: 8:30AM to 11:00AM or 11:00AM to 1:00PM. This is fun, exciting opportunity to greet the runners and encourage them as they reach mile 19 of the race. Please email Brandon Dyce at [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering.

Retirement Party for John / Saturday, May 5
Who didn't know and love John our mailman? After years of dedication and friendship, John has retired from the USPS. We are throwing a party in his honor on Saturday, May 5, from 4PM to 6PM at Sky Blue Café. All neighbors are invited to stop by and congratulate John on his well-deserved retirement. Light refreshments will be served. Also, the neighborhood will be giving John a “thank you” present, and we invite everyone to make a suggested $10 contribution for his gift. Please use the “Donate” button on the website and put “retirement gift” if the notes section.

We hope you’ll join us for some – or all – of these events. Please email Brandon Dyce if you have any questions.
