Minutes: HEN Board Elections 2019

On Sunday, August 18, Historic Edgefield Neighbors (HEN) held its annual ice cream social and board elections. Nearly 50 neighbors attended and had a wonderful time.
 
In addition to the conversation and fellowship, the following six individuals were elected to the board of directors:
 

• Jenny Alexander (returning member)
• Brigette Landford (new member)
• Chris Lucas (returning member)
• Eric Meadows (new member)
• Alison Otto (new member)
• Anderson Williams (returning member)

 
Also, Randall Gilberd (term 2015-2019); Treasurer (2017-2019) retired from the board. HEN members appreciate Randall’s many contributions to our neighborhood. Randall volunteered to join the board in the midst of the dissension around East Ivy and has often volunteered for challenging jobs, like following up on attempts to collect insurance for street sign damage. 
 
During his two years as HEN treasurer, Randall established HEN’s bank account, a PayPal system for collecting donations and paying dues, and a convenient cube for taking payments at meetings. HEN is in much better financial shape now, due to Randall’s efforts.  
 
Randall also has served as our liaison to Cayce Homes, fostering the relationship between our two neighborhoods with the Cayce Easter Egg Hunt and drives to collect children's books and hats and gloves for Cayce residents. As an early and long-time advocate for Envision Cayce, Randall has kept us informed of its remarkable progress.  
 
Perhaps most of all, we have appreciated Randall’s thoughtful and insightful contributions to our neighborhood dialogue on controversial issues. He helped us stay on track and and make better decisions.   
 
Our next meeting is Tuesday, September 24, at 7PM at East Park Community Center. Councilman Brett Withers will be attending to discuss HEN and our shared goals for the future of our historic, urban, residential neighborhood.
