On Wednesday, April 19, all Edgefield neighbors are invited to a special meeting to learn more about the proposed development of two properties at the corner of 9th and Russell. The meeting will take place at East Park Community Center at 6:30PM.
Councilman Brett Withers requested the meeting so developer Lee Mollette can present a proposal for the two properties owned by the church at the corner of 9th/Russell. From what we understand, six new townhouses are being proposed for the parking lot on the northeast corner of 9th/Russell as a means of funding renovations for a potential adaptive reuse of the church at the northwest corner. If you are concerned about this redevelopment, then please attend the meeting. Councilman Withers has said that, "it is in the neighborhood's long-term interest to start a discussion about what kind of an adaptive reuse of the church properties (taken together) the neighborhood will support.” If you have any questions, please email either Lois Layne, Historic Edgefield, at [email protected] or Brett Withers, Metro Council, at [email protected]. We look forward to seeing you there! Comments are closed.
